Funding and financial incentives available for renewable energy systems

The Feed-in-Tariff Scheme: FIT / EXPORT / SAVE

If you install an electricity-generating technology from a renewable or low-carbon source such as solar PV or wind turbine, the government's Feed-in-Tariff scheme (FIT) could mean you get money from your energy supplier.

You can be paid for the electricity you generate, even if you use it yourself, and for any surplus electricity you export to the grid. You'll also save money on your electricity bill, because you'll be using your own electricity.

We have explained briefly about FITs in our Solar PV and Small Wind Turbine pages, however for an up to date overview on the scheme please visit the official websites run by GOV.UK and The Energy Saving Trust - note, click the map for your Region.

The OFGEM website also has more information on the FTI's scheme.

The Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme - RHI

The RHI is available for installations of both Wood Pellet Boilers and Solar Thermal Panel systems and just about everyone could be eligible, from domestic households and landlords, to businesses, farmers, schools, hospitals and care homes. Once your renewable energy system is installed you’re paid a fixed amount based on the type of technology, the size of the system and its output.
